Blue Peter – first laminate session

laminating stern apron

A squad of four turned up at the ice palace at the crack of dawn on Saturday to start glueing the first laminate. A senior group comprising two experienced joiners, the project manager and the tea-boy were
determined to complete this task in one quick session before lunch and the big rugby match (England vs Scotland).

Once the glue was poured onto the wood it was a race against time to line up the pieces in the mould, tap them into position and attach the clamps.
There are never enough helping hands and clamps when carrying out this kind of task, but the calm and experienced heads assumed control and the job was finished in 45 minutes; just in time for coffee and chocolate biscuits before home-time.

Bring on the next laminate.
